JUMP! {Monday Motivation}

So you want to be an entrepreneur or go for that big promotion at work this year huh? JUMP! Planning is a well organized way to start, but if you fail to put that plan into action, you will regret not seeing that idea all the way through at some point in your life.

JUMP! What are you doing to get that promotion at work? Have you been secretly researching the duties of that next position, silently praying that your boss will notice you and one day give you a promotion? That isn’t going to happen! Success isn’t served on a silver platter with two glasses of champagne on it. You have to go out and get it!

JUMP! We have all fallen prey to procrastination but consider the following simple tips to help you stay focused to achieve a higher level of success this year. This is your wake-up call to action!

1. Find an Accountability Partner or Group. Reach out to someone you trust, someone who will keep it 100 with you! Ask your partner to jot down specific goals for the next 3 months, 6 months, 9 months, and 12 months. Dividing the goals into 3, 6, 9, and 12 will give both you and your partner realistic time frames in which to meet the goals. This act will also encourage each of you to link up every few months in a coffee shop or at brunch to follow-up on the progress and motivate each other to push forward with the plan.

2. Limit Your Social Media Time. I once read an article that stated that when you sit down to complete a task online or at the computer, set an alarm. It may sound crazy but 24 hours is all the time you have in a day. We may want  more time but honestly, you would probably waste the extra time a day on Facebook. Limit the time stealing activities that keep you unfocused and unproductive. Put down the tablet or cell phone while completing that goal list that you spent so much time writing. When you get distracted, revert to tip #1 and call your accountability partner for a pep talk!

3. Seek Out A Mentor. Have you admired a leader at your job and admired how they balance work, style, stress and success within their leadership role? Are you currently stalking a local entrepreneur on Instagram and think, “Wow, she looks like she is ‘viviendo la buena vida’ ?” (translation – living the good life.) Well, drink a bit of liquid courage and reach out to someone you admire for mentorship, advice and wisdom. They may just change your life.

4. Stop Stressing and Get Rest. Do what you can with what you have. You may not complete every item on your list. You may make a mistake along the way… actually you will make many mistakes, but that is okay! Don’t lose sleep over it. Just push forward with CONFIDENCE that you are on the right path to achieve your goals! Trust your instints, never stop learning, never stop reading, get rest so that when you begin anew tomorrow, you will be ready for whatever may come.

What I’ve written isn’t rocket science. You may have heard some or all of this before. But at times we get in a slump and we need that boost or reminder to JUMP! Have a great week!
