On Thursday I had the pleasure to attend the second Social Cravings invite only event, properly entitled “Taste” at the all new Indigo Lounge in Atlanta, Ga. If you have never attended a Social Cravings event, here is a recap of the first event of the tasting series: http://vimeo.com/23161065 and Here via “Now That’s Delicious”
Social Cravings is a foodie’s dream. They feature celebrity chefs who uniquely create dishes that are combined with non-traditional ingredients. Now take those amazing dishes and add a sexy venue, live music and cocktails into the mix and you have a great night for every attendee. For example, on Thursday “Taste” was sponsored by MillerCoors and featured Chef Jason Ellis (former Fox Hell’s Kitchen alum) prepared various dishes before a live audience incorporating the MillerCoors products.
When you consider traditional tastings you never think you’re walking into a room filled with beautiful people overlooking the city skyline. However, at a Social Cravings tasting it was that plus dishes like Georgia white shrimp sautéed with garlic, cilantro and deglazed with Blue Moon beer cooked live by a celebrity chef. The next course was a full rack of lamb cooked with a Leinenkugel’s Honey Weiss butter and the signature dish of lobster and chocolate. Yes… LOBSTER AND CHOCOLATE (insert happy dance)! Nope this isn’t your average event by any stretch and I can’t wait for the next one.
My only issue with this event was the venue. A beautiful roof-top space with wall to wall glass so you can see the stunning city skyline from every angle would be great for many private events. However, as soon as you walk off the elevator you walk into a large space this is overtaken by the massive bar. I mean… massive. Many guests were standing and couldn’t see the live demonstration by Chef Ellis and for a lounge, the sound system was sub par. Add in a DJ booth set-up and creamy white leather sofas and you have many people and not enough space for them. I really enjoyed this event, the people and the overall atmosphere. I give it 4 ♥♥♥♥’s because you know I love food. #WordofMouthApproved!
